Mr. Willie C. Cobb, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL with Pastor Noble D. Williams, pastor and Pastor David Dawson, eulogist. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.

Willie Cobb affectionately known as “Buddy” or "Shorty” was born on August 9, 1938 in Rutherford, Alabama. He was the son of the late Charlie and the late Susanna Cobb.

He confessed his life at an early age and joined Nero Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon until his health declined.

Willie was united in holy matrimony for 45 years to the late Alice Cobb, in Phenix City, Alabama. Willie was employed in Columbus, Georgia at Swift Textile Mill for over 25 years as a dedicated employee who was kind, caring and always open to helping others when needed.

He will forever be considered a father figure to many. He enjoyed the outdoor life, hunting, fishing and farming. He loved working with his hands, whether repairing on houses or automotives. He always had words of wisdom to share with others about the struggles and challenges of life. He encouraged others to only fear God, not man.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Cobb; three sisters, Nonie Bell Moore, Beatrice Hill and Abbie Robinson; two brothers, Charlie Cobb and Lonnie Cobb.

He leaves to cherish memories his two daughters, LaVonna (Fred) Sumbry of Phenix City, Alabama and Debra (Elliot) Jones of Stone Mountain, Georgia; son, Tommy (Michelle) Banks of Phenix City, Alabama; one brother, Ezekiel (Dorothy) Cobb of Lima, Ohio; three sisters, Rosana Crawford of Columbus, Georgia, Rebecca (Richard) Harris of Lima, Ohio and Rosie Hill of Orlando, Florida; one sister- in-law, Geneva Cobb of Lima, Ohio; nine grandchildren; Yaschica (Cleodis) Feagins, Lemario Jones, Fredrick (Jocelyn) Sumbry, Jarrel Campbell, Jaylon Campbell, Kyria “Shae” Sumbry, Talandra Banks, Tekiya Banks and Elea Jones, 19 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends devoted cousin and best friend, Clarence Williams, nephew Fortson Robinson, Jr., and niece, Regina Adams. Buddy Pop’s grand-daughters Yaschica Feagins and Shae Sumbry served faithfully as his caregivers until heaven’s gates opened and God said, “Welcome home my good and faithful servant”.
