Obituary For Patricia Ann Byers

Funeral service for Ms. Patricia Ann Byers of Ragland, 76, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Ragland. Reverend Thomas Kelley will deliver the eulogy. Ms. Byers final resting place will be in the Morning Star Church Cemetery. She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the funeral home.

Patricia Ann Byers was born on September 3, 1946, to the parentage of Mr. Beason Byers and Mrs. Creola Young Byers in Ragland, Alabama.

Ms. Byers confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Ragland, Alabama. She started her education at Newtown Junior High School and graduated from St. Clair County Training School in Pell City, Alabama. She was employed with the New York Telephone Company for a number of years and then transferred to Illinois Bell in Chicago, Illinois. She loved to read, teach and do speaking engagements as well and as traveling and was a voting clerk during elections.

On December 17, 2022, Ms. Byers was called to her eternal home. She was greeted by her parents, Beason and Creola Young Byers; siblings, Benjamin Franklin Byers, Lawrence Russell Byers and Mary Louis Jenkins along with Mama—Mary Boykins.

Precious memories of Patricia will forever be in the hearts of her two sons, Gregory Andre (Veronica) McKinney of Gadsden, Alabama and Dante Isiah McKinney of Ragland, Alabama; four sisters, Pretha Mae Oden of Hammond, Indiana, Imogene Miller of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Creola Pearl Jackson of Mobile, Alabama and Jeanette Byers Davis of Ragland, Alabama; three brothers, Billy Ray (Deborah) Byers of Apple Valley, California, Charles Edward (Emmie) Byers of Ragland, Alabama and Gregory Andre Byers of Mobile, Alabama; a faithful niece to the end, Rosalind Diane (Penny) Howard of Douglasville, Georgia; two granddaughters, MarQueana Shantell McKinney and Maya McKinney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
