Mary Jenkins Gardner, a resident of Burkville, AL, passed away on December 17, 2022, in Stockbridge, Ga. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1716 Frederick Douglass Road, Burkville, AL, 36752 with Pastor Eric E. Brown, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow at the church's cemetery with the staff of E. G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home directing. Mary leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy ~ children: Elizabeth G. (Dr. George) Ross, McDonough, Georgia; Terry (Patricia) Gardner, Montgomery, Alabama; Dr. Cheryl G. (Robert “Bobby”) Davis, Tuskegee, Alabama; and Charrisa G. (Lt Col {Ret} Samuel Craig) Washington, Lorton, Virginia; Daughter-in-law, Retia H. Gardner, Burkville, Alabama. Grandchildren: Joronda L. (Michael Jackson) Pringle, Katrina G. (Jason) Jackson, Terrance A. Gardner, Robert “BJ” Davis, Jr., Dallas P. Gardner, Terin M. Gardner, Micah A. Washington, and Roshaunda R. (Jorge) Orta; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Sisters: Annie J. Pringle, Burkville, Alabama; Jimmie J. Wilson, Springfield, Massachusetts; and Effie J. Johnson, Hope Hull, Alabama; Brother, Theodore (Geneva) Jenkins, Montgomery, Alabama. Sister-in-law, Helen G. Washington, Birmingham, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
