Charles Edward Blount Jr. was born on July 29, 1949, to the late Charles Edward Blount Sr. and Ruth Esther Blount in Newark, New Jersey. A Time of Love Charles was always giving a helping hand when needed and telling jokes with a big smile. He was a loving husband, generous provider, and the best father in the world to his children. He was affectionately referred to as, “Pop Pop” by his grandchildren. His colleagues and friends respected and appreciated his loyalty, dedication, and knowledge. Charles was an extraordinary person and will truly be missed. A Time of Life Charles was educated in the Clifford Scott Public School System. After high school graduation, Charles attended Hampton Institute (University) in Hampton, Virginia, then returned to New Jersey where he received his bachelor’s degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology. At an early age, Charles was baptized at Zion Hill Baptist Church, in Newark, New Jersey and recently joined Spring Creek Baptist Church in Moseley, Virginia where he continued his Christian journey until his final days. Charles was employed at Trinitas Regional Medical Center (currently known as Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health) as a Radiology Technologist where he met his wife, Joann Parmely. On July 21, 1973, Charles married Joann in holy matrimony at the Mount Teman AME Church, located in Elizabeth, Jersey. “ A Soldier Gone Home” Surviving to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of forty nine years, Joann Blount; his children, Keshia Blount Thomas, Amey Blount, and Erica Blount; three grandchildren, Joshual Thomas, Amia James, and Alexa James; Siblings Marsha Blount and Lamont Blount; Nieces & Nephews Shakira Blount (Tyrone Love), Latisha Parmely, Laurie Tucker, Justin Staley; and Justin Davis 2 Sister-in-laws Brenda Parmely - Wallace (Brian Wallace) and Linda Davis along with a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Thursday, December 29 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday December 30 at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 5130 Woolridge Road, Moseley, VA. Interment Dale Memorial Park.
