Obituary For Velma Goodwin

(July 7, 1954 --January 1, 2023)

TYLER -- Funeral services for Ms. Velma Goodwin, 68, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1 pm in the sanctuary of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church with Rev. Benjamin Horne, eulogist under the direction of John R Harmon Undertaking Company. FACE MASK RECOMMENDED.

Ms. Goodwin was born on July 7, 1954 and transitioned on January 1, 2023.

Velma graduated from Chapel Hill High School and received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Texas Women's University. Ms. Goodwin served as a Social Worker for Melrose Nursing Home, East View Nursing Home and Greenbrier Nursing Home. She was dedicated and professional employee while serving her profession.

Ms. Goodwin was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter: Chedena Hayes of Garland and her siblings: Ira Goodwin and Billy Goodwin of Tyler, Ruthie Thomas of Fort Worth, Jerry Smith of Houston, Lisa Smith of Amherst , Orthia Smith of Leveland, Jackie Smith and Diane Deckson, both of Andrew, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be at the funeral home from 2 pm to 8 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023.
