Mr. Maxter E. Allen Jr.

Mr. Maxter E. Allen, Jr. (affectionately known as June), peacefully transitioned this life on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in Winston-Salem, NC at the residence of his devoted son and caretaker, Maxter E. Allen, III (Tre’).

Maxter was born in Albemarle, North Carolina on May 10, 1952, to the late Maxter E. Allen, Sr. and Hazel Foxworth Allen of Ansonville, North Carolina. He joined Barringer Chapel Church at an early age and graduated from Southside High School in Rowland, NC in 1969.

He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at East Carolina University in 1974. He continued at ECU to obtain his Master’s degree in 1975. While at ECU, he met Joslyn Williams who he married on July 17, 1976. He started his long career in education at Spring Lake Middle School. Then went to Anson County where he taught Industrial Arts. While teaching, he received his Education Administration Certification from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He began his Administration career in Stanly County Schools. In 1992, he went to Chowan County Schools to serve as Principal at Chowan Middle School and John A Holmes High School.

To finish out his 30-year career in Education, he decided it was time to come back home to Anson County. He retired as Assistant Superintendent of Anson County Schools. He will be fondly remembered by his two children, Maxter E. Allen, III (Tre’) of Winston-Salem, NC and Chandra A. Allen of Locust, NC. His Grandchildren: Naomi and L’oreal Clark of Winston-Salem, NC.

Brothers and Sisters: Jacqueline (Richard) Ezzell of Mesa, Arizona, Andre Allen of Kansas City, Kansas and Kiara Allen Cox of Mint Hill, NC. Cousins: Gwendolyn Foxworth, Ronald (Catherine) Foxworth, Patricia Moore, Valerie Batts and George Crocker (deceased).

Nieces and Nephews: Kristen (Shae), Nikkara (Daryl), Kathryn (deceased), Edwyna (Anthony), Erin, Melinda (Dwayne), Brittany (Jeremy), Jacia (Omar), Keely, Charles III, Kaylan, Karin, William, Kierah and a host of great nieces and nephews.

The Services to Honor the Life and Legacy of Mr. Allen will be on Sunday, January 15, 2023, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of the Barringer Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Allen Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 12:30-1:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
