Ms. Cortina Hamilton was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on November 21, 1946 to the late Elease Brooks Hamilton and Thomas Charles Hamilton. She slipped away in her sleep peacefully at her residence early Friday morning, January 13, 2023. “Tina” as she was fondly called by family and friends was educated at John Chavis High school, Gaston County School system. Tina worked in the Textile Mills Industry until her health declined . She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She loved playing softball back in the day. Tina had two brothers Chester Brooks and Hubert Hamilton; a grandson, Antell Kirkland and two great grandsons, Xavier Jackson , Marcus Perry Jr. that preceded her in death. Tina leaves fond and loving memories in the hearts of her children which include three sons, Johnny Hamilton (Michele), Curtis Hamilton (Patrice), Mark Hamilton (Pam), and one daughter Lora Pettis (Fabian); four brothers, Johnny Brooks (Ann), Alex Brooks (Lorraine), Thomas Hamilton Jr. (Delse), Larry Hamilton (Kim); six sisters, Fallie Hamilton, Jane Roseboro, Edna Lott, Alice McCoy, Lisa Camp ( Michael), and Cathy Williamson; sister-in-law, Dovey Brooks; special grands, LaQuandra (Bright Eyes), Shadalya,( Skipp) Johnny II. (Woody), Deaundra (Shay Shay) and DaShawn; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; special niece,Tracy Hamilton along with several nieces nephews, cousins and friends. Tina’s hobbies were her tablet, listening to music, going out to eat and tending to her flowers. Tina would always take flowers that others could not get to grow, name them and they would flourish. She prided herself in doing her own nails. She also had a love for wind chimes and the sounds that they would make when she sat on her front porch. All of her family and friends will sorely miss her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM as well as her home, 1207 Webb Drive, Shelby.
