“I have fought the Good Fight, I have Finished the Race, I have Kept the Faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
On Monday – January 16, 2023, Willie Mae Alexander, age 76, followed the path God decided for her. She took his hand when she heard him call, turned her back and left it all.
On September 17, 1946 , Willie Mae Alexander was born in White Plains, GA , to the late Virgile Alexander and Lelia Mae Webb Alexander.
At a young age, Willie Mae accepted Christ in her life at Pierce Chapel Church. She was always a hard worker within the church. Later she united with the Rock Hill Baptist Church.
She was educated in the Greene county school system. She was a bridge in the community. She started working with kids in the White Plains Community Center located in the Pittsburgh area. She was dedicated to her job. When she drove the van, if a child wasn’t ready for pickup, she would park the van and go inside the home to help get the child ready. Always ready to lend a hand. No job was too big or small. Later she went on to work in the Greene County Preschool Program. She joined law enforcement as a Bailiff to the Greensboro Municipal Court. Always a dependable hard worker.
On June 11, 1965 she married SM Alexander and they shared 57 years of Holy Matrimony.
Whenever Willie Mae did something she did it with style & class. She loved fishing, baking and gardening. She was always going & flowing. She had a wonderful personality but was never too good to help people.
She loved the Lord, Church and her Community. She was a known Doorkeeper in the House of the Lord. She radiated the main characteristic of an Usher, “A Welcoming Spirit”.
She made you feel welcome with her acknowledgment of you and her spirit seemed to say “Come on in, the doors of the Church is Open”. It didn’t matter the name on the church, if she saw a need for an Usher she would fill it. She was on the battlefield from Pierce Chapel to Rock Hill.
Willie Mae was preceded in death by her five of her siblings: Virgile Alexander, Jr, Jessie Alexander, Pearline Alexander Robins, Elmer Alexander and Mary Alexander Rhodes.
Willie Mae’s everlasting memory will live on in the hearts of her Husband: SM Alexander; Brothers: Porter Alexander(Gloria) of Decatur, GA and Caesar Alexander of Greensboro, GA. Three Brother In-Laws: Howard Alexander, Robert Lee Alexander and Millard Alexander; Three Sister In-Laws: Judith Alexander, Bonnie Mae Smith and Inez Wilson. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time devoted friends.
