Obituary For Joe H. Hairston

Joe H. Hairston 87, of Creedmoor, NC formally of Martinsville, VA departed from this life on Monday January 16, 2023. Joe was born December 17th, 1935, to the late Joe Alonza Hairston and the late Susie Hailey Hairston.

Joe enlisted in the United States Air force after graduating Veteran high school, Washington D.C in 1960. He also attended trade school to become an Auto mechanic. He was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Suitland, MD. He retired from the Department of Transportation where he worked for over 40 years and was a part of the Local 1975 Union.

He is predeceased by his daughter Arraina, and 3 brothers (Thomas, Horace and Dana).

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 57 years Eva M. Hairston, two sons, Joseph (Tricia) E. Hairston of Upper Marlboro, MD and Desmond (Khalidah) M. Hairston of Raleigh, NC; two daughters Wanda Hairston of Sierra Vista, AZ and Tina (Mike) Finley of Clarksville, TN; three sisters, Mae (Hughes d.), Lulabelle (Lawrence) Jones, and Rubenna (Joe d.) Dillard all of Martinsville, VA; and one sister in-law Gladys 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One special family friend Nevie (Bug) Lyon.

A graveside service will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, at noon at the Hailey Cemetery, Brass Shop Rd., Ridgeway VA, with Dr. Eric Hairston presiding.
