Obituary For James "Smokey" Moore

Mr. James "Smokey" Ruben Moore, Sr. was born December 3, 1953, to Mr. Ruben Hoye and Christine Moore Hoye in Attala County, Mississippi. James was raised by his grandmother, Maedean Flicklin. He made the confession of faith and hope in Christ at an early age. He was a baptized member of Bethlehem M.B. Church in Sallis, Mississippi.

Jamese attended Central Mississippi College and Tipton Street High School in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He received a High School Equivalent. Subsequently, enrolling in Milwaukee State University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mitchell Metals, Kosciusko, MS., Zero Zone Manufactory, as well as CDL Truck Driver.

James was united in marriage with Johnnie Ray (Landingham) Moore. They shared four children between them. James was also married to Betty Patnett. A dedicated companion and co-parent with Izabella: Ms. Claudia Frey A very, special and loving friend: Mrs. Ruby Riley.

"Smokey" was a very out-going person and extremely jovial. He loved to be around people and have fun. He was quick-witted. He used this wit to initiate side-stitching laughter from whomever he entertained. Smokey was fashionable and very conscious of his appearance. From head-to-feet, his hair was well-groomed and was always dressed to the "Nine!"

James suffered years with mild-to severe to chronic illnesses. He carried these sicknesses privately. He succumbed to them early Saturday morning (2:00 a.m.) January 14, 2023. Leaving his loved ones with an emotional and spiritual void in their hearts. He will truly be missed. James was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maedean Flicklin, his parents Ruben and Christine Hoye, all aunts, and uncles. Two sisters: Mavis Allen and Annie Jackson. A brother: John Moore.

James leaves to cherish his wonderful memories:

Jeffrey Landingham, Christina Moore, Elton Moore (Monique), all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, James R. Moore, Jr. (Sheryl), Columbus, Ohio. Ivory RIley, Kelvin Riley, Sallis, MS; James Moore, Oak, Creek, Wisconsin, and Izabella Moore, Madison, Wisconsin. In addition, his cherished stepchildren.

25 Grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren. Four sisters: Reverend Mary Ann (Nelson)Veasley, Mrs. Dorothy (Bradley) Stephens, Ms. Johnnie Moore, Ms. Brenda (Dwight) Winters all of Kosciusko, MS.

Two Brothers: Mr. Andrew (Shelia) Moore, Pearland, Texas, and Reverend Sammie (Yolanda) Moore, Starkville, MS. Other nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends, relatives, and acquaintances.
