Agatha Christie Wright (Christie) was born July 7, 1947, in Walnut Cove, NC to the late Eleanor Virginia Davis and Christmas Henry Carmikle Hairston. She later married Ronald E. Wright, Sr., to whom she was committed to until his heavenly departure in 2021.
She leaves her four children: Tamaha of Richmond, VA, Kevin, Christa both of Winston Salem, NC and Ronald E. II (Yuki) of Tokyo, Japan. Four grandchildren; Tori Eleana, Chance Olivia, Yuma Minor and Nin a Zora. Two sisters; Terris Martin (Donnie), Deborah Walker. As well as nieces and nephews; Cliff, Nikki, Andre, Kim, Sctaria, Darryn, Bryan and Stephen. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rand Hairston. Christie graduated from London High School, where she discovered her love for singing and writing. Thereafter, she attended Barber-Scotia College. She was employed with Fairchild, Jepson-Burns and B.E. Aerospace, where she was the first Black woman to be a Supervisor.
Over the years, she discovered an abundance of passions including, but not limited to, poetry, reading, traveling and sports. She never missed a tournament with Tiger Woods. If she wasn’t at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, she was watching Nascar racing. Although controversial, she was a Duke Blue Devil fan, a Golden State Warrior fan, cheering Steph Curry on. Football, on the other hand, she was watching anything but “dem Cowboys”. If she wasn’t watching sports, she was enjoying Midsomer Murders. But her ultimate passion was baking. Christie entered numerous baking competitions throughout Winston Salem and Clemmons. She baked for people she had known for years, her family, her weekly Sunday School class and people she hardly knew as she continuously volunteered for events such as Christmas for the city and assisting with the Brownsboro summer program. People all over requested for her baked goods, but she was most famous for her chocolate chip cookies and pound cake. Christie and her late husband, Ronnie, both had an ultimate passion for Winston Salem First. Here, she built long lasting friendships with members of the church-Glenna, Elwood, Sammy, Cindy, Balance, Jere, Barbie, Toby and Roger, to mention a few.
