Mrs. Beatrice Lena West was born on March 27, 1945 in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gano and Lula D. Smith.

Beatrice was educated in the Worth County Public School System. She later earned her high school diploma.

At an early age, Beatrice accepted Christ and joined Little Morning Star Baptist Church in Acree, Georgia, now known as New Morning Star Baptist Church, and attended faithfully until her health declined.

Beatrice was the eldest daughter of eight siblings and helped her family in many ways. Her work history varied from being a cook at a local diner to becoming a supervisor at Coats & Clark Manufacturing.

Beatrice became a mother to her son, Andrew Henry. In later years, Beatrice met and married Mr. Lewis C. West. From this union, they welcomed their daughter, Alexis Sharell West.

Beatrice prided herself on family. She was excited for the births of her grandchildren, Jayden and Bryan Henry, Kadience Mosley and Khloe Hamilton. Beatrice loved music, enjoying life, and having good times. Her hobbies included visiting flea markets, playing the Lottery, and shopping. Desserts were her favorite. Her favorite cake was coconut. If you knew “Bea”, you knew of her love for sweets.

Our Loved One’s time upon this earthly realm came to an end on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Her parents, Gano and Lula D. Smith, her husband, Lewis C. West, a grandson, Kadience Mosley, her sister, Lola B. Smith, her nieces, Tomiko Smith, Shenna Williams, and a nephew, Justin Smith, have all preceded her in death.

Beatrice leaves to cherish her memories her loving son, Andrew (Monifa) Henry of Northville, Michigan; her devoted daughter, Alexis West of Albany, Georgia; grandchildren, Jayden Henry, Bryan Henry, both of Northville, Michigan, Khloe Hamilton of Albany, Georgia; sisters, Classie Smith, Leola Smith, Lizzie Smith, Gloria (Nathaniel) Green; brothers, Gene Smith, Edgar Smith, Jerry Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
