Graveside Services for Mr. James Whitfield 78, of Elko GA will be Saturday January 28,2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Springhill Cemetery, Henderson GA.
Public Visitation will be held Friday January 27,2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
James Whitfield was born January 1, 1945, to Genie and Ozzie Mae Whitfield in Macon, Georgia. James departed this life on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia, with his loving sister by his side. At an early age, James joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Henderson, Georgia. He graduated from the Houston County Training School in Perry, Georgia. James was a true farmer at heart, and he devoted his life to working on the family farm alongside his brothers and nephews. James was also an avid football fan. During the fall and winter months you could catch him following his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons. James will fondly be remembered by his family and friends. He was a man of few words with a kind and humble heart. He holds a special place in the heart of all his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. He leaves to cherish his memories: a sister, Dorothy Patrick (Willie Patrick) of Cordele, Georgia; a daughter, Latonya Nichole West of Perry, Georgia; a grandson, Zachary Antwan West of Perry, Georgia; two sisters-inlaw, Carolyn Whitfield of Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlie Mae Whitfield of Henderson, Georgia; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
