Obituary For Deacon Herman "Bozie" Roberts

Deacon Herman Roberts was born March 23, 1936, in Hampton County, South Carolina to the late John Roberts and the late Glennie Gustrine Missouri Brown Roberts.

Bozie, as he was affectionately called by his loved ones and friends, was educated at North District Training School. He was a dedicated student/employee. While in high school, he drove school bus for Hampton County and South Carolina School System as well.

Deacon Roberts accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age, and he was baptized and became a member of Jackson Branch Missionary Baptist Church. While ministering and helping God's people, he became an Ordained Deacon.

After graduating, from high school, Deacon Roberts enlisted in the United States Army. After the completion of his tenure, he moved to New York. While in New York, he dedicated 20 years of service with the New York City Transit Authority as a Train Conductor.

While in Brooklyn, New York, he met and married the love of his life, Dollie Walton Roberts, and this union was blessed with two children.

Deacon Roberts was no stranger to hard work, and he was a people's person. He was always there to extend a helping hand. Deacon Roberts was a self-taught musician. He played the guitar, harmonica, keyboard, and the saxophone. He was afforded the opportunity to play professionally with The Ramsey Lewis Band.

Upon relocating back to South Carolina, on July 9, 2010, Deacon Roberts became a member of the Capers Lodge #4 Independent Order of Good Samaritans and Daughters of Samaria US of America. He was currently the Chaplain. During the years of 2014 - 2019, he served as a Grand Lodge Officer as the Grand Chaplin.

In addition, to his parents, he is preceded in death by (5) Brothers: Henrell, Hallie, Norris, Sammie, and Leroy; (5) Sisters: Raybell, Lorene, Verna Mae, Elaine, and Artie.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Deacon Roberts answered the master's call and peacefully went to his heavenly home on the last train.

Precious memories of Deacon Herman "Bozie" Roberts lending a hand, discipline, words of wisdom, and the love for others will always linger in the hearts of his loving family; loving son: Harold (Maqueta) Roberts, Atlanta, GA; loving daughter, Hermona "Mona" Roberts, Houston, TX; (2) Grandchildren: D'Harold and Maniyah Roberts; (1) God-Daughter, Kimberly; (5) God-Grandchildren: Kendall, Angelica, Indya, Lamont "Champ," and Harmony; Loving and Devoted Niece: Rose Ann; Special friend: Angie Aiken; A host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
