Nelson had several nicknames; "Pookie", "Chuckberry", and "Smooth". He was a hard worker. He loved working with cows and he loved dogs. He learned how to drive at an early age and was the best driver of his siblings. He was the kindest and humblest one of us all. He loved his family and traveled to visit the Lamons and Herring families in Florida often. Deric and Eric believed their brother-in- law, Allen, was scared of Pookie. He bought Pookie a George Foreman Grill, clothes, and money. He never bought them anything (Lol). They found out it was because Pookie was really his best brother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Herring, Jr.; brother, Roosevelt Herring, Ill and nephew, Eric Herring, Jr.
Nelson married Kisstina Herring of Moultrie, GA on March 17, 2005.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted wife, Kisstina Herring; three daughters, Ashunti Minor, Harmonii Herring, and Abreya Barfield all of Moultrie, GA; one son, Nelson Herring, Jr. of Valdosta, GA; his loving mother, Glorian Herring of Barwick, GA; one sister, Rosetta Herring of Barwick, GA; two brothers, Eric Herring, Sr. of Barwick, GA and Deric Herring, Sr. of Griffin, GA; his five grandchildren, Scotty, Aubrey, Brayden, Ky'Air, and Nova; eleven maternal and paternal aunts and 4 maternal uncles; three brother-in- laws, Leroy Esther of Coolidge, GA, Arthur Graham of Moultrie, GA, and Leon Lee, Jr. of Atlanta, GA.; he has two special friends, Derick Anderson and Reggie Green; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends from Georgia and Florida.
