Obituary For Mr. Edwinna Wilson

Funeral services for Mr. Edwinna Wilson will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in the Zero Community. Rev. Edward Dubose, Pastor will officiate.

Mr. Wilson, 100, was a U. S. Army veteran from World War II when he worked as a medic while in Japan and the Philippines. When he returned home he attended Jackson (State) College and received a degree in education. While here in Meridian he worked as a teacher and principal in Meridian Public School before he retired. He was a gentle but well versed man who enjoyed helping people in whatever way he could. He married his college sweetheart, Josephine Wilson (deceased), also a former educator where they raised their family.

He leaves to cherish his long, cherished and loving memory 1 son, Edwin Maurice Wilson of Meridian; 1 daughter, Sherry Evans of Chicago, IL and 5 grand daughters, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 5th from 6 - 7:00PM. Burial will be held in MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Enterprise Funeral Home has been entrusted with final arrangements.

What can I say other than Mr Wilson was an Phenomenon example of Wonderful. He was such a Humble,Smart,Educated man as a whole. To all his students he taught you can bet another how old we were if we meet or see him anywhere you can bet he will know your whole name. And remember what grade you were when he taught you. What a blessing Mr Wilson was giving such a blessed and Loving life. He fulfilled it well turning 100 in Dec,2022. You can't get any better than that. He was such a loving ,caring and kind hearted family man,friend and truly loved the Church he attended and his members he was attending until his health failed. Mr Wilson you were One of a Kind and you can never be replaced. We will miss seeing those smiles you give and the love in your eyes when we saw you. You have earned your wings and God knows a Good and Faithful Servant he created. Rest on Mr Wilson. You had lived your Best Life and you always say "You have No Regrets" that God was good to you.RIP🙏

Mr. Wilson was an extraordinary education who left a lifelong impression on me and my siblings. He was very loved and appreciated. They don't make teachers like him anymore. He not only remembered me each time I saw him, he always asked about siblings that he taught as well. A wonderful man! Deena Crane

Mr Edwinna was always encouraging and supportive my sisters and brothers My father Clifford Hood was one Mr Edwinna closest friends. I want to thank Maurice for sharing his parents with us.We will miss stopping by to visit with Mr Edwinna and Mrs Josephine but we always told them how much we loved and appreciate all they did for us and the young people at Pleasant Hill.
