Ruthie was born in Chipley, Florida on March 18, 1937, to James and Janice Bell. She retired from the Syracuse City School District in 1993 after 25 years of service. In 1953 Ruthie met and married Elias Alexander who preceded her in 1982. Together they had six children, and three sons preceded her Dennis Alexander surviving wife (Linda), Gary Alexander surviving wife (Jasmine), and Elias Alexander, Jr. The surviving children, Richard Alexander (Teretha) of Syracuse, New York, Patricia Diane Alexander of Elon, North Carolina, Judy Alexander-Scott of Greensboro, North Carolina. Mikel Alexander, of Syracuse, New York, and Rashida Alexander, of Syracuse, New York. Surviving sister and brothers, Alvenas Bell of Syracuse, New York, Willie Bell of North Augusta South Carolina, Tommy Bell of St. Petersburg, Florida, Darnell Bell of Syracuse, New York. Also left to mourn her passing was nieces Doris Marzug and Sharon Wilson, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and a host of family and friends.
