Sincere sympathy and prayers extended to family and friends of Dear's family. She was the 2nd wife of my late Uncle Rev Herrie Jenkins, Sr. Before marriage he took me to meet her in her home. She was very gracious and Rev asked did I approve of her. I said "yes, she will make you a good wife". We were all happily excited about the marriage. It took place in Dear's home. I cried all through the ceremony; they tried to take me out and I refused. I cried because it was the end of an era. My late Aunt Pearline was my Mother's sister and Rev Jenkins' 1st wife. But as I thought, Dear was a good, kind devoted wife to him. She took great care of him until the end I'll always love her for that. Rest in peace Dear.

She and my mother were friends since Mama was two and our families have been more like relatives for over 80 years. We affectionately called her " Dear" and it is so fitting. Also she was the best real from scratch Coconut cake maker, she knew how to crack a real coconut and turn it into DELICIOUS!! Every Christmas as a teenager she bought me my favorite pajamas, I always wore them because they were a gift from " Dear" :-)
