Obituary For Norman Lue Henryhand

Mr. Norman Henryhand, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Norman Lue Henryhand, the eldest son of the late William Nathan Henryhand, Sr., and Cassie McBride Henryhand was born on March 15, 1935, in Trio, South Carolina. He departed this life on January 26, 2023.

Norman married Lela Mae (Bynum) Henryhand on November 20, 1954, who proceeded him in death in August 2021. In their union, they had seven children, Delores/Hortense Clinard (Reginald), Denise Pratt, Sylvia Adams (Donnell), Donald Henryhand, Veronica Rutledge (Willie), Mae Charles Henryhand, Cheyenne Henryhand and he leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Norman loved and cherished his family. He enjoyed it when everyone came together during the holidays, especially when they cooked out at their home. Our dad was a peaceful, easy-going, jovial, and hardworking man. Simple pleasures of life brought him great joy. Daddy loved sitting on his front porch from morning to evening where you can often find him napping with his baseball cap on. He enjoyed it when his grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren came to see him. Norman loved watching professional wrestling, baseball, and football and listening to good ole blues music. He worked for George C. Brown Lumber Company for over 30 years when he retired. Our father had a special ability to find happiness in his daily life.

Norman Lue Henryhand was the oldest of 16 brothers and sisters. His brothers Joseph, Daniel, Melvin, Chester, William Jr., and Alford, and his sisters Barbara and Carnetta all proceeded him in death. He leaves behind his brother Levern, and his sisters Earlene, Geraldine, Carolyn, Arnetta, Lurena, and Rutheen. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A service honoring his life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:30 pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E Market St. The visitation will begin at 12 pm.

The burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery.

PawPaw, where do I begin? Thank you for all of your wisdom that you've shared with me over the years. Thank you for every cookout with long nights of roasting a hog. I thank you for every easter egg hunt, and all of the funny moments when you fell asleep on the front porch. Thank you for being our referee, wrestling buddy, and mediator. I am grateful for all of the shared birthday parties we hard. I'm thankful for the moments we shared sneaking candy so no one would see even though I know you shared the same moments with each and every grandchild, great grandchild, and great great grandchild. You had your own way of making each and every one of us feel special in some way. Thank you for showing your family nothing but grace and unconditional love. Love Always, Dana

Granddaddy, I have always and will continue to tell God thank you for gifting us with a kind and loving grandfather. Over the many years, I/we would come to visit, you would light up like a Christmas tree and be ready to talk. I will miss your laughs and humor along with the sight of seeing you get tickled about anything. I will always remember you as a loving, quiet, peaceful gentle soul who was about doing the right thing. Thank you for loving us ALL unconditionally! Granddaddy, according to 1 Corinthians 15:53-54 – Death is swallowed up in victory. Therefore, you have the VICTORY as you take eternal rest with Jesus Christ. I Love You to Life Granddaddy! My family, Kerry.
