Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. EST Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at St. Luke A.M.E Church, Hatchechubbee, AL with Rev. Miriam Harlan, pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery. Visitation is Monday, February 6, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Mr. Hommer Lee Gary was born January 21,1947 in Hatchechubbee, AL to the late Augusta Gary, the seventh child of eleven children.
Hommer confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Luke AME Church, he later united with The Rhema Word Church. Hommer was educated in the Russell County Training School.
He worked at Eagle’s and Phenix Mill, Fieldcrest Mill, John Manville and Muscogee County School District. Hommer retired from Muscogee County School District.
Hommer was preceded in death by his mother, Augusta Gary; his siblings, Jimmy Gary, Robert Gary, Queen Pugh, Zelma James, Ozell Gary and grandson, Bryson Miller.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 55 years, Willie Bea Gary; his children, Dorothy Franklin, Priscilla (Willie) Calhoun, Gregory Gary, Kenneth (Rebecca)Gary and Arnetris Holloway (Randy); siblings, Mattie LaGrand, Tommy Gary, Gracie (Richard) Brown, Ollie Hensley, Ralph Gary, Minnie (Will) Perry, Rosie (Johnny) Hill, Mary Dickerson, Annie (Albert) Lias, Sherri Miles, Eddie Scott, Ausie Scott, Aaron Burts and Edward Burts; sisters- in- law, Gertrude Cooper, Shirley (Homer) Miles and Lillie (Potcher) Cooper; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
