John Calvin Fair

John C. Fair of Spartanburg, SC entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2023. A native of Spartanburg County. He was the son of the late Mr. Dewey Lee Fair and Mrs. Jimmy Nora Smith Fair. Mr. Fair joined The Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Cross Anchor and was a supporter of it and The Friendship Baptist Church until he was called home. He was a kind and caring person. John was predeceased by: two brothers, Johnny Fair; Jome (Duke) Fair; and one sister, Myrtle Lee Jones. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife, Sarah M. Moore Fair; his two sons, B. Jerome Elmore of OH and M. William Lockett of Spartanburg, SC; his three nephews, Curtis (Robin) Fair of Chester, VA, Terry (Gloria) Jones of Simpsonville, SC and Jome Fair of NY; his niece, Carolyn Simpson of SC; his two sisters-in-law, Avenelle Fair of Laurens, SC and Alice P. Moore of Philadelphia, PA; one brother-in-law, D. Frank (Mary) Moore of Lyman, SC; and a host of a cousin, other relatives and friends. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War where he was wounded for his bravery and was awarded three purple hearts one with Oak Leaf Clover. He also received The Army Commendation Medal and was honored by The Spartanburg County Hall of Heroes 2022 for his Service in the United States Military. Services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Westwood Memorial Gardens.
