Clyde Staggs Jr.

Mr. Clyde Staggs, Jr. was born November 11,1942 in Inman, South Carolina to the late Mr. Clyde and Flossie Macopson Staggs Sr. Clyde entered rest on Saturday February 4, 2023, at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and was a member of the All-Male Chorus.

A 1959 graduate of Bethune High School where he was an honor student and graduated early at the age of 16. After graduation he attended Friendship Junior College in Rockhill, SC where he received his Associates Degree and later served in the United States Army for 29 years. After the military, he was a graduate of Cecil Business College.

Clyde was Past Master of Double Spring #388, Master of The Three Veil R.A.M, Past Commander in Chief, J.E. Dickson Consistory #217, Past Potentate Tamin Temple #155, Deputy of the Oasis of Spartanburg, SC and G.I.G. 33 Degree. He was a member of the Mason Hall.

Mr. Staggs was employed with Spartanburg Waterworks as Purchasing/Inventory Control Buyer.

He enjoyed traveling, and most importantly spending time with his family.

Left to cherish fond memories are: his loving wife and partner of 42 years, Mrs. Etrulia "Trudy" Rice Staggs; one daughter, Mrs. Terri (Bryant) Roberson of Roebuck, SC; one son, Mr. Clyde "Tripp" Staggs, III of Spartanburg, SC; three granddaughters, Tierra Holloway, Clyderia Staggs and Amar’e Staggs; two grandsons, Jadon Roberson and Armani Staggs; three sisters, Ms. Norma Beatty, Ms. Lizzie Staggs of Inman, SC and Ms. JoAnne Vaughn of Moore, SC; one brother, Mr. Van (Linda) Staggs, Sr. of Spartanburg, SC; one aunt, Mrs. Flora Staggs-Robinson of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Clyde was preceded in death by: a daughter, Ytonnya Holloway; and three brothers, Richard, Larry and Gregg Staggs.

A Celebration of the Life of Clyde Staggs, Jr. will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Entombment with Military Rites will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC. Masonic Rites will be conducted.
