Gloria Manking, 77, of Phenix City, AL passed on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, February 11, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, Inc. Burial to follow in West End Cemetery, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Friday, February 10, 2023 from 12-5 p.m. EST.

There is a season for everything under heaven. On June 12, 1945, Gloria Battle was born to the late Anderson and the late Alma Battle of Fort Mitchell, Alabama. She was baptized early in life at her family church Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She then moved to Phenix City, Alabama where she spent the rest of her life.

In February of 1962 she gave birth to her only son, Homer Battle. She then met the man she would spend the rest of her life with a few years later. Willie Manking then married and loved Gloria for more than a half of a century. He was by her side as she took her last breath on February 4, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital,Columbus,Georgia.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and a grandson. She lived life her way on her terms in every season of life loving those she encountered in a way that would leave a mark that will last a lifetime.

The Legacy she leaves behind begins with her husband,Willie Manking of Phenix City, Alabama; son, Homer (Sherry) Battle of Childersburg, Alabama; granddaughters, Jasmine Lawrence of Phenix City, Alabama, Treasure Battle, Genesis Battle, Precious Battle and Franchesca Gilbert of the Birmingham Area; grandsons, Anderson Cooper of Austin,Texas, Marquez (Shawn) Cooper, Jacquise Cooper of Smith Station, Alabama, Michael (Ashley) Lawrence and Antwon Lawrence of the Columbus, Georgia; devoted nephew, Johnny (Christine) Evans of St Charles, Missouri and a host of loving family and extended family to carry on her Legacy.
