Obituary For Jesse David Mayfield

Jesse David Mayfield was born June 6, 1946, to the late Robert and Sallie Peeler Mayfield in Kosciusko, MS. He peacefully departed his earthly home on February 4, 2023.

Jesse attended Tipton Street High School, where he proudly captivated spectators as the Bobcats' lead drum major. Jesse honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and was respectably discharged and awarded a Purple Heart, Rifle Expert and National Defense Service medals for his heroic efforts in the Vietnam War.

Jesse worked for the Chicago Transit Authority and retired as head trainer. He enjoyed fishing, chefin' in the kitchen, traveling, spending time with family and friends caring for his horses and playing the lotto. "Did Jesse tell you about the time he almost hit the big jackpot?!"

Jesse was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings: Martha Mayfield, Robert Mayfield Jr., Ann Mack, Willis Mayfield and Hattie Perry. He leaves to cherish his memories: A brother, Curtis Mayfield, three daughters: Kimberly Mayfield Fitzgerald (Derison), Ronda Mayfield Fitzpatrick (Dahrnell) and Terese Mayfield; a son, Alexander Mayfield, six grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, many friends and a special devoted friend, Lula Malone.
