Rodney Petty

On Thursday February 9th 2023, Rodney ”Boopie” Petty of Shelby N.C. left to be with the Lord. He was Born August 20th 1965 in Cleveland County to the late Nathaniel Petty Sr. and the late Pansy Wade Petty.

Rodney worked for many years at MDI in Hickory and Wix/ Mann+Hummel in Gastonia. He was a family man who worked hard every single day to provide for his family at all times. He also was s a proud father and a Big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Smith; his children, Aaliya Petty, Rodriguez Petty and Ashley Neal; brothers, Terry Petty and wife, Pamela, Nathaniel Petty Jr..and wife Iva Jean, Richie Petty and wife Erica, Mickey Petty, Michael Petty and wife Renea and Barron Starr; sisters, Sherrie Poston and husband Tony, Cherry Petty and Sharon Howard; nephews, Laterris ,Richie Jr. ,Rashawn, Lance, Shemar, CJ, Antwan, Antonio, Nichola; nieces, Kadisha, Shamekia, Nykia, Aniya, Journey, DeNiyah; grandchildren, Tristen, Kingsley, Peyton, Destinee, Carter as well as many more family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Good Samartian Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM and at other times at 302 Webb Farm Road Shelby.
