Secure in God’s promise the spirit of Nannie Mae Martin took flight from this earthly tabernacle and peacefully entered eternal rest with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023. She was born in Henry County, Virginia to the late Patrick Dillard and Mariah Hodge on December 31, 1929.

Nannie retired from W. M. Bassett Furniture Company with forty-five years of service and attended Henry County Training School. She enjoyed traveling, watching television and especially writing letters to family and friends. If you got a letter from her, you knew you were special. On April 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to William Odell Martin, who preceded her in death and to this union they were blessed with one child, Katina Martin.

Her faith journey with Christ began at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church serving in the Senior Choir and other organizations for over 50 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Katina Martin of Cary, NC and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jesse Dillard.
