James Henry Gates Sr. was born December 3, 1953 to Lucy Maines Gates and Alvoid Gates in Tifton, Ga. He was a son, a brother, n uncle, a father and grandfather who lived most of his life in Warner Robins, Ga. James attended school at Pearl Stephens. After school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. James was a very kind man and found joy in helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters (Marinell and Emma), 3 brothers (Walter, Lonnie, Bobby), and 3 nephews (Chris Scott, Chris and Daetuan Gates). His earthly journey was completed on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Those left to mourn his loss include his life partner Jacqueline Leggett, his 4 sons Samuel Gates, Travis Gates, Alvoid Gates II, and James Gates Jr., 2 lovely sisters and a brother, Shirley Gates-Dixon, Alfreda Lane, Gary Gates. James also leaves behind 4 stepchildren, Janetra, Taquisha, Jimmy and Qwantel Turner, mothers to his sons, Beatrice Dean and Shirley Gates, a host of nieces, nephews, grandkids and devoted friend James Cooper.
