Lydia Ann Jefferson 68 of Spartanburg, South Carolina passed away quietly on February 17, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Lydia, affectionately known as Sam, Lala, Ann, and Aunt Libby was born on March 26, 1954 to the late Robert and Frances (Miller) Jefferson. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Girls Catholic High School.

She later relocated to South Carolina where she earned her nursing certification and worked for White Oak Manor for ten years.

In 1988, she moved her family to Sacramento, California where she continued her career and earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from American River College. With a calling on her life and her love for Christ, she continued her education at Trinity Life Bible College earning her degree in Theology. As a servant of the ministry Lydia enjoyed reading the word of God, holding Bible study with her neighbors as well as preparing elaborate meals for them. She was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends.

As a gifted and passionate writer, Lydia’s love of words allowed her to create amazing stories that would challenge the average intellect beyond the imagination. She loved drawing, with a respect for performing arts and was an accomplished ballet, jazz and tap dancer in her youth. A true original diva who loved fashion and interior design with her signature colors of reds and golds embracing the Native American culture of her ancestors.

Lydia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed cooking grand meals for the holidays and spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Jon Jefferson of California; Zsara Joseph (Darren) of, South Carolina; Miguel Jefferson (Maggie) of Sacramento, California. Three grandsons, Mario, KaVon, Darrius; two great-grandchildren Brooklynn and Gianni.

She is survived by her siblings Diane Harper (John) of SC, Rhona Ingram of SC, Kathleen Geiger of Washington DC, Colette Jefferson of CA, Von (Lisa) Jefferson of SC, Yvette Futrell of SC, Tioka Ingram (Israel) of SC, her uncle George Miller of Pennsylvania, a brother-in-law Edward Bedenbaugh Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Frances (Miller) Jefferson, her sister Karen Bedenbaugh, and her two nephews Edward Lawrence Bedenbaugh III and Aktio Razon Portee.

Lydia Ann Jefferson was a woman who loved life, her family but most of all her Heavenly Father Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00am at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel.
