Mr. Eugene Chambers

Passed 02/18/2023

Eugene Chambers, known to many by his nickname, “Boya”, the son of the late Mr. James K. Chambers and Mrs. Annie Lee Collins Chambers was born June 30, 1935 in Anson County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, February 17, 2023.

He confessed Christ at an early age at Meltonville Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Anson County and graduated from Deep Creek High School on May 9, 1954. He later enlisted in the United States Army. After being Honorably Discharged, he returned back home.

He was joined in marriage to Betty Jane Hailey who preceded him in death. His son, Mark F. Chambers also preceded him in death.

Mr. Chambers was a farmer who dealt with crops, cows and pigs during his life. He also worked a few jobs before finally landing a job at Teledyne Allvac (now ATI Specialty Materials) in Monroe, NC. He worked there for 27 years, retiring at the age of 65. Even after retiring from Allvac, God blessed Mr. Chambers to continue working and farming cattle until the age of 82. Without God, that would not have been possible.

Even though Mr. Chambers worked full-time, he was committed to his faith and his Church. He served as a Deacon for many years before stepping down. He also served as a Sunday School Teacher and was in charge of the sick-and-shut in whom he enjoyed visiting. He believed, served, and was faithful to God and his Church. He attended other churches, but finally returned home to New Meltonville Baptist Church. No matter where he went, he always put God first and allowed God to use him and guide his path.

He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Angela D. Chambers; four grandchildren, Jeremy A. Chambers, Haley A. Chambers, Glenoria A. Chambers and Deandre F. Chambers; one great grandson, Jasean D. Chambers; two brothers, Rudolph (Minnie) Chambers and Fredrick (Minnie) Chambers; two sisters, Nina May Threatt-Jones and Vinnie Lee (Major) Davis; a special friend, Miss Verla Marsh; adopted daughter, Debra Crowder Montgomery; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Thursday, March 2, 2023, 2:00pm, Meltonville Baptist Church, Peachland, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.
