On Saturday, February 18, 2023 God saw the need to call Lt. Col. Joshua Davis home to rest. Joshua entered this world on September 9, 1941 to the proud parents of Mr. Nolton Davis and Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor-Davis. He was reared with the support of a loving family.

Joshua attended the public schools of Calhoun County and graduated from John Ford H.S. and later obtained his Bachelor's degree from South Carolina State University. He was a proud alumni of the University and regularly supported University events. Joshua retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Col. with all the honors afforded to him. He retired after 20 years and re-entered to serve an additional 10 years. He was very proud of his 30 years of service in the military; but his service did not end there. He also served as the Director of the Orangeburg County Detention Center. His major accomplishment was serving as the Commander of Post 8166 in Orangeburg. He also served as Worship Master of Olive Grove Lodge #477, PHA Mason, Inspector General (GIG) of Robert Shaw Wilkinson Consistory 220, and Illustrious Potentate of Jeddah Temple 160.

Joshua was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings: Earline LaCoq, Willer Dean Floyd, Lillie Mae Green, Nathaniel Davis, Caroline Davis, Margaret Davis, James Emmanuel Davis; his first wife of 16 years, Mildred Fields-Davis; and fourth wife of 11 years, Celia Waring-Davis.

He leaves behind his brother Nolton Davis Jr., second wife Colleen Hilton, third wife Dr. Helen Frasier, daughter: Dr. Deborah Davis-Cummings and son: Joshua Davis Jr. (Mildred Davis) and daughter Elizabeth Hoo and son Anthony Hilton (Colleen Hilton), grand-children; Afiyaa, Imani, Ayanna, Aliah, Tenayaa, Little Imani, Sydney and Keymari and great-granddaughters Naomi and Zuri, Step Daughters Selena Waring-White, and La’Nata Waring and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
