Obituary For Charles Thomas Truitt, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Thomas Truitt, Jr. will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday February 25, 2023 at All American Holiness Church, Bishop Vernon Thomas, Pastor, with Dr. Robert Pyle, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Edgemont Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, February 24, at 1:00PM at Goodson Funeral Home. Charles Thomas Truitt, Jr. was born November 11, 1949 to the parentage of Mr. Charles Thomas Truitt, Sr. and Mrs. Minnie Bell Truitt of Anniston, Alabama.

He joined Friendship Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age. Charles was educated through the Anniston City School System and was a member of Cobb Avenue High School graduate class of 1968. He joined the United States Army in June 1968 at the age of eighteen. During his military service, he served two tours in Vietnam. He was an Infantryman ("Foot Soldier") of the 1st Cavalry. Charles also served in the National Guard from 1988-1991. After serving two terms in Vietnam, Charles was united in Holy matrimony to Ms. Shirley Jean Knight. He was preceded in death by; his father, Mr. Charles Thomas Truitt and his mother, Mrs. Minnie Bell Truitt; his sister, Yvonne Truitt (passed away at birth).

Memories of Mr. Charles Thomas Truitt will be forever cherished in the hearts of his four children; Charles Thomas Truitt, III, Corey Montrell Adams (Tanetra), Negreta LaShon Truitt, and Barbara Michelle Finley; his sister, JoeAnn Olivia Drake and his brother, Kenneth Truitt (Charlotte); seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
