Obituary For Rev. Edward Turner, Sr.

Edward Turner Sr. was born to the union of the late Walter and Dorothy Turner of West, MS. At a early age Edward accepted Christ and joined the West Missionary Baptist Church in West, MS where he served faithfully, Edward received his high school education and Durant attendance Center in Durant, MS in 1977. He received his bachelors degree from Alcorn State University. While on this journey of higher education he joined the brotherhood of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

After receiving his higher education he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he married the love of his life Vanessa Jones in 1983. To this union one child was born Edward Doug Turner Jr. He was a faithful servant at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee,Wisconsin. After living in Milwaukee for several years he continued his journey to Birmingham, Alabama where he was a transportation manager for the South Eastern Freightline INC and he also served as an Associate minister at Living Word Church in Birmingham, Alabama until his health failed.

Edward departed this life on February 18th 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital Birmingham, Alabama. His parents Walter & Dorothy Turner and 8 siblings (Mac, James, Walter, Ray, Nellie, JR, Peggy, Felix) preceded him in death. Edward leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife Vanessa Turner, 1 son Edward Turner Jr. & 10 siblings (Mildred (LaGrace), Howard (Jeannie) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joe (Josephine) of West,MS, Jessie (Nick) of Durant, MS; Sheldon (Lessie) of Riverdale, GA, Viola and Felicia West, MS, Marcus (Latonya) Durant, Miranda Kosciusko, MS, and Baretta (Teresa) West, MS. He leaves one aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
