Obituary For Marsha Renee Johnson

Marsha Renee Johnson was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late James Clyde Williamson, Sr. and the late Daisy Lee Williamson of Reidsville, North Carolina. In 1948 Marsha’s parents relocated their family to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

She received her formal education in the Harrisburg School District and was a 1969 graduate of the former John Harris High School. She also completed quite a few course credit hours at the Harrisburg Area Community College.

During her working career, Marsha was a devoted employee for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1969 until 2005 when she retired from the Department of Transportation after 36 years of service. A little unknown fact was that she loved her job so much that she would sabotage her file room when she was forced to take vacation so no one , not even her boss , could do her job.

Marsha accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and she was baptized on December 7, 1969. She was a devoted member of Capital Presbyterian Church where she was ordained as a Deacon on January 20, 1985. During her years of service at Capital, she worked tirelessly as a member of the Deacon Board, the Women’s Association, the Sunday School Staff (Youth), the Kitchen Staff, the Progressive Way Committee, the Christian Education Committee and in any other capacity needed. When Marsha was physically unable to attend meetings due to illness, Marsha continued to participate via telephone until her transition.

Before her automobile accident in 1977, Marsha loved dancing and finger popping, going to concerts, shopping and riding all over town in her yellow Volkswagen Beetle Bug honking her horn that went “beep beep”. She became infamously known as “Beep Beep”. She loved fashions and even did some modeling locally. Marsha also loved watching game shows and ABC soap operas with her mother, doing crossword puzzles, scratch offs and going to the casinos. She loved and enjoyed her family; especially her sisters and brother. Marsha’s most enjoyable time was spent with her son, Mario. They had a very blessed and loving mother-son relationship.

On Friday, February 17, 2023, Marsha Renee Johnson, at the age of 72 years peacefully transitioned into eternal life at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania after a lengthy illness.

Marsha leaves to cherish precious memories of her; her beloved son, Mario Johnson of Harrisburg, PA; her siblings, James C. Williamson, Jr., Patricia D. Williamson, Cheryl M. Weathers and husband, Joe, Tina L. Williamson and stepsister, Carrie McArthur, all of Harrisburg, PA; her nieces, Twyla Perkins [Terry], Venus Becker [John], Whitni Monn [Dustin], Arielle Williamson [Janel] and her step-niece, Dionne Fulton (Darryl); her nephews, Brian Williamson, Barry Williamson (Katrina), William Robertson, Jr. (Karen) and her step-nephew, Shawn McArthur; her grandchildren, Jordan Johnson, Justin Johnson, Ciara Collins-Johnson, Ryan Collins-Johnson, Larissa Johnson and Zada Johnson; her 8 great-grandchildren; her numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

To Marsha's family, Marsha and I were friends since our time at HACC. Although our time together changed after her accident, we were able to reconnect when she returned to work. She and I always hugged and talked whenever we saw each other on breaks in the cafeteria. These moments were always special memories for me. Marsha really loved her family and always talked about her son Mario, he meant the whole world to her. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. May God's peace be with you all. 🙏🏽🕊♥️ Waverly Dixon

To The Williamson Family: I met "Aunt Marsha" over 43 years ago. She looked at me sideways, said a few words, laughed and I have loved her ever since. She called me "my buddy". She was happy most of the time, but make her upset... watch out! 😳 If she took a deep breath before she was started talking you were going to get a piece of her mind. ☺️. She was a beautiful person in more ways than one and she will be missed by many. Mario, Twyla, Aunt Cheryl, Aunt Pat and the rest of the Williamson family find peace in knowing that she is with GOD, Grandmom Daisy and Mom Marj.
