Mary was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church. She served as the church secretary and president of the gospel choir. Mary was a 1978 graduate of Baron DeKalb High School. She matriculated in her studies in Business Science and obtained an associate degree from York Technical School and a master degree from the University of Georgia. Mary was an active member of the Liberty Hill School Reunion.
Mary retired from the South Carolina Social Security Administration Office.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to James Blackmon.
Mary leaves to cherish her life and fond memories her husband, James of the home; two sons, Jason Thompson and Arkevion Goodman of Heath Springs, SC; one grandchild, Jaylon Thompson; one brother, Larry Thompson of Boston, Mass; three sisters, Lenora Thompson of the home, Viola Thompson and Emma T. Jones (Daryl) both of Lancaster, SC; Goddaughter, Jasmine Johnson (Dexter); mother-in-law, Martha Blackmon; two sisters-in-law, Alisha Marie Thompson, and Shelia Stewart; three brothers-in-law, Ricky Blackmon (Tina), Reaco Blackmon and Tyron Blackmon.
A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 3603 John G. Richards Road, Liberty Hill, SC. Reverend Benjamin Mingo will conduct the service. Face Masks will be required.
