My deepest sympathies are offered to the family of my former co-worker Danny B. Davis. Mr. Davis was one of the kindest persons that I ever met. He always approached me with a pleasant smile, especially when he was making inquiries on behalf of one of his band students at ASU. He frequently lobbied the Development Office, where I served as Vice President, for funds to assist band students for band equipment, travel expenses or general welfare funds. He was serially inquiring on behalf of his needing students who fell short of resources to participate in Band activities. He was the kind of person who always left a positive personal impression. May he rest in peace. Charles Varner, Jr. (ASU retired)

Our prayers are with the entire Davis family at this time. I met Mr. Davis when I joined the Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets' Band, 1975. He was a man who taught us but went beyond the expectations. He was a part of our college life and for me, his guidance carried over to my adult life. His family and I have enjoyed many special times together. The most memorable was going to his church with them to do Karate. The children earned rank as they learned and Mrs. Davis made them belts. Then, they had to do a Taekwondo performance for him. It waa so fun. I will truly miss Mr. Davis. The Rainge's family

"To Thine Ownself Be True." His favorite quote. Central State University (Former Band Director) Danny B. Davis, was my favorite instructor of all times. I heard he was a pastor. I remember when he got the call. He came and stayed with my family back in 1986. He was here in Detroit to recruit. We were in revival at the time. A prophet called him out. He told Mr. Davis that he had seen a trumpet. Mr. D (a trumpet player), looked at me as the prophet was speaking. He told Danny that God was going to use him to blow the trumpet. You should have seen the expression on Mr. D's face. 🤣 He'd never be the same again. We lost contact after that. He was with us for a week. I was definitely honored to have had Danny Davis in our home. He will be truly missed. God willing, I plan to attend the services. I send my deepest condolences to the family. 🥰 Stay strong in the Lord and in the POWER of His Might!!! 😇
