Mrs. Charlene J. Jordan was born February 4, 1941 to the late Rev. Richard S. Johnson and Sarah Harvin Johnson in Clarendon County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
Mrs. Jordan accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, S.C. After graduation from Lincoln high School, she pursued and received a degree in Education from Morris College in Sumter, S.C. She then moved to Greene County, Georgia and taught as an English teacher and Media Specialist for 40 years. She was also very active in numerous social organizations throughout the state.
She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Willie Edgar Jordan, Sr. To this union they were blessed with two sons: Willie Edgar Jordan, Jr. and Richard E. Jordan. She was also blessed through marriage with a daughter Ms. Gloria Bailey.
She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Delores Ison of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Cynthia Chester, Mrs. Jeanette Alexander, Mrs. Dorothy Laws Johnson, Mrs. Catherine Simmons and Ms. Brenda Brown; four brothers-in-law: Ezell Chester, Eddie Alexander, Fredrick Jordan and Clarence Greene, Sr. She gained a special granddaughter Kanayia Middlebrooks and a host of nieces and nephews.
Two Brothers Richard “R.C.” Johnson (Crown) and Joe Simmons preceded her in death.
