Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Bethel A.M.E Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Brandon Thornton, pastor and Rev. Percival Woods, eulogist. Interment will follow in Edmonds Cemetery, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Friday, March 17, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Mrs. Miles was born September 8, 1938 in Phenix City, AL to the late Willie Alexander and the late Louise Golden-Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Miles, Jr.; brother, Willie Anderson; two daughters, Jessie “Rube” Miles and Denise Miles; one granddaughter, Alyonda Miles; two great grandsons, Tyrell Kynard and Demarcus Miles.
Lorene confessed her faith at an early age at the Mt Olive Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. Lorene attended Phenix City Public Schools. She later moved to Indianapolis, IN with her husband and family where she lived for many years before returning back home to Phenix City, AL.
Lorene was a very respected and well known person. After working for many years for the Phenix City Housing Authority, she became a cook for Sumbry Cafe and work there until her retirement. Lorene dedicated her life to her kids and grandkids. She was a mother to all and a great mother-in-law, a woman you could talk to about anything and she loved unconditionally.
Her presence will be missed, but her memories will be forever cherished by her three sons, Jimmie Miles of San Francisco, CA, David (Sonja) Miles of Oklahoma City, OK and Richie (Irene) Miles of Augusta, GA; three daughters; Bertha (Larry) Williams of Indianapolis, IN, Beatrice Burns and Susan (Christopher) Koen both of Phenix City, AL; step son, Jessie, Jr. (Franka) Miles and step daughter, Juanita Miles both of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Leon (Gillie) Golden and Larry (Sandra) Golden both of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Julia (Willie) Crawford, Ella Thomas, Belinda (Earl) Shephard and Essie Nathan all of Phenix City, AL; 21grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, special cousin, Shenenia Hoskin and a host of other relatives and friends.
