Obituary For Clara Kellam Tatum

Clara Kellam Tatum, 104, of Walnut Cove, NC passed Saturday, March 4, 2023. Public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC . The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Walnut Cove, NC. with the “Homegoing Service” beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC.

Clara Kellam Tatum, 104 of Walnut Cove, NC transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Walnut Cove Health Care. She was born in Stokes County to the late Nogh and Hattie Kellam on July 7, 1918.

Clara retired from Foremost Screen Print in Stokesdale, NC after many years. She loved to sew and sing hymns and was known for Coconut Cake, chicken dumplings and mowing her own yard. She drove her car until she was 96 years old. Her good time were dancing for the Lord in the name of Jesus. She played games, love to tell stories about how they grew up together. For family time and loving the Lord was a passion. As the only surviving member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Walnut Cove, NC where she was a loyal member for 50 + years.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Harrison, Tim, Feff, Ed, Rev. Willie Kellam and Bishop Robert Kellam. Three sisters; Creolo Dalton, Alice Foddrell and Anna Ziglar and her son-in-law; Willie R. Hairston.

She is survived by: one daughter; Mildred Hairston of Walnut Cove, NC, her grandson; Gerry Hairston (Jackie) of Winston Salem, NC, one great grandson; Brian Hairston (Carrie) of Walnut Cove, NC, one great great grand; Koineta Parhan of Winston Salem, NC, five great great great great grandchildren, brother; two sisters-in-law; Bernice and Mother Christine Kellam and Naomi Cross of Walnut Cove, NC Rev. Willie Kellam, NC.
