Obituary For Annie Vinson

Annie Laura Coates Vinson departed this life Monday, March 6, 2023 at home in Lawndale, North Carolina. Annie was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia July 9, 1941 to Bertha Mae Briscoe Coates and Clarence Stovall Sr. She was raised by Bertha Coates and the late George Washington Coates in Cleveland County, NC.

Annie L. Vinson was educated in the Cleveland County School System graduating from Douglas High School in Lawndale, NC in 1959. She was a member of the Glee Club, National Homemakers of America, French Club, and Dramatics Club. Her motto in high school was “Able and Willing”. She also attended Cleveland Community College to earn her certification as a cosmetologist.

Annie was married to Eugene Vinson for 62 Years. Together they had four kids. Annie was an excellent wife and mother who loved to cook, sew, can food, and work as a beautician. Annie was a virtuous woman and faithful member of Lawndale First Baptist Church where she served on the usher board, commodity committee and hospitality committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Reginald Carl Vinson; brothers: Clarence Stovall Jr, and George M. Coates.

She leaves to mourn and cherish precious memories to her husband: Eugene Vinson; daughters: Eugenia Vinson, Roslyn Vinson-Braggs, son: Derek M. Vinson; siblings: Lewis Coates (Maxine), Lois Pullen (Benjamin-decease), Daisy Ward (Johnny), Larry Stovall, Cora Stovall (Charles-decease) O’Kelly, Debra Stovall, Wayne Stovall; loving step mother, Madear Stovall, sister in-laws Eva Vinson (Willie-decease), Phyliss Coates (George-decease); granddaughters: Ayana Braggs, Aman Braggs; and grandsons: Roman Vinson. Great grand-kids; Brayden Braggs, Nolan Jones and Aviah Jones. She is also survived by her Aunt Alma Jean Briscoe (L.C. Briscoe-decrease) and special cousin/brother Bobby Briscoe (Georgia); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on March 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church Lawndale. The service will be livestreamed starting at 12:45 P.M. from Enloe Mortuary Facebook page. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:00 PM on Monday and at other times at the residence, 120 Powerhouse Dr. Lawndale. The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Cleveland County and Central Care of their support.

Our prayers and condolences to the Coates,and Vinson families.Annie Laura had such a quite and sweet spirit. She was one of the "Three Amigoes who led our youth ushers for over 19 plus years. Very dedicated to her calling. She contributed much to the lives of the students she assisted with.
