Sister Natherlean Kelly was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt. Educator and Friend passed away on February 27th, 2023, in Lexington, SC at the age of 80 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 18, 1942, to the late Nathaniel Georgetown, Jr and Margaret Napoleon Johnson. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized. She was a faithful member of the Israelite Baptist Church where she was a choir member for over 50 years.

Sister Kelly, retired Elementary school teacher, was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning her Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in education from Southern University and A& M College, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Sister Kelly’s pride was in her school and students, and she shared her passion for learning with thousands of children over 30 years in the West Baton Rouge School System. Her infamous stubborn streak was an inspiration to her students, refusing to give up on them no matter the struggle and continuing those relationships far beyond the school year. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Sister Kelly. She loved spending time with friends and family. During school breaks she would explore sites and activities of different states with her children and grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in whatever adventure her family seemed to take her on. She was a avid Southern University Jaguar fan and attended 42 Bayou classics before you became ill.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two children from the union of Lionel Kelly, Terence (Patti) Kelly, Lexington SC and Chanta Stewart, Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Stepmother, Evelyn Georgetown, Plaquemine, La; 5 Grandchildren, Kaleb Kelly, Madison Wisconsin; Breanne Kelly, Harwich, Massachusetts; Michayla Stewart, Marshall Minnesota; Maleek Stewart, Owatonna, Minnesota; and one Great Granddaughter Avery Kelly, Madison Wisconsin.
