Princess Kaitlyn Makenzie Nesmith(Kaity Bug), age 11, peacefully transitioned on Tuesday, March 8 th at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. She was born on July 25, 2011. Kaitlyn was the Princess of Gary and Harriet Nesmith of Spartanburg, SC. Kaitlyn was preceded by her maternal grandparents the late Harry and Martha Lee Gleaton and two siblings Tamara Michelle Nesmith, and Kristen London Nesmith Kaitlyn was affectionately known as Kaity Bug, Pumpkin, My Sweet Thang, My Sweetie Pea, Kaity Pooh, and from her dance friends Queen. She loved fingernails of all kind and even was working on doing them professionally. Starbucks and Target were her outlet and spent much time and Moms’ money there. She loved Tik Tok, making videos, and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted and active member of First Worship Church. She served the church in many capacities at her tender age which included singing on the Youth Choir, serving on the Stewardess Board, Usher Board, a Youth Ministry Leader and an instrumental mentor to the children of the church. Kaitlyn was an honor roll student at R.P. Dawkins Middle School Spartanburg, as well as she was affiliated with Arts Academy of the Carolinas Dance Studio for numerous years. She was a band member at Dawkins Middle as well as the Dawkins school choir. She loved to be a second mom to her brother Drake in which she called him her Drakey. Drake will all miss her say “Come on Drake”, each time it was time to go somewhere. A lovely, outgoing child, Kaitlyn was known by her friends and family to be smart, witty, ambitious, sweet, caring, loving, strong willed and ready for anything. Special Phrases from her dance friends are “Yess Queen”, “We love you” and” Never give up”. Her favorite songs were “Shine Like A Dimond” by Rihanna, “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo and she also Loved Janet Jackson. In addition to her parents, she is survived her brother, Drake Nesmith; her paternal grandparents, Rand and Bobbie Nesmith of Andrews, SC; her uncle, Alonzo (Jobreyia) Gleaton of Whitmire, SC; and her aunts, Gail Pressley of Kingstree, SC and Attia Nesmith of Andrews, SC. Balvin Dorsey a special uncle and a very special cousin Andrea Gleaton. Adopted sisters Cara Childers, and Lexi Gosnell. God sister Zuria Wilson, and God brother Malachi Johnson as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of the Treasured Life of Kaitlyn Makenzie Nesmith will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at First Worship Church, 504 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC. The Reverend Arnold McJimpsey will officiate.

Interment will be held at a later time at St. Mark A.M.E. Church, Kingstree, South Carolina.
