Mr. Clay Raekwon “Ray Ray” Huskey, 27, of Shelby, NC departed this life on Saturday, March 11, 2023 in Shelby, NC. He was born on February 13, 1996 in Shelby to Marisa S. Huskey and Daniel Ray Sloan, Jr.

Clay was a 2015 graduate of Shelby High School where he was an outstanding football player playing the position of defensive end. During his time on the team, he helped Shelby High School earn two State Championships. He attended Morris Hill College briefly with intentions to continue football but changed his mind.

Clay was a very outgoing person who loved to laugh, dance and have a good time. He also enjoyed cooking on the grill and looking his best.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sadie Huskey Eskridge; his paternal grandparents, Daniel Sloan, Sr. and Linda Sloan and uncle, Derek Huskey.

He leaves fond memories of him to his parents, Marisa Huskey (Gary Woodard) and Daniel Ray Sloan, Jr.; four children, Clay Huskey, Jr., Carter Huskey, Chosen Huskey and Cailum Huskey; one “special son”; a sister, Alantus Sloan; two aunts, Kenya Sloan and Alanna Sloan and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Temple. Burial will take place at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.
