Obituary For Richard Thomas

Mr. Richard Thomas, 72, of Columbus, GA passed on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. EST Saturday, March 25, 2023 at McCartha Church of Christ in Columbus, GA with Pastor Steven Short, officiating. Burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Columbus, GA. Visitation is Friday, March 24, 2023 from 11-5 p.m. EST.

Richard Demar Thomas was born in Louisville, Alabama and raised in Cuthbert, GA to parents J.C. and Mattie L. Thomas.

He attended the Barbour County School System when he moved to Georgia he attended and graduated from Henderson High School. Richard Thomas worked over 40 years of civil service at Fort Benning, GA, and continued his employment with Shaw until his retirement in 2013.

Richard Demar Thomas joined Evelyn Taylor in holy matrimony on June 10, 1973 they were married for 49 years and raised four amazing children.

Mr. Thomas nurtured and uplifted several nieces and nephews. In his leisure, Richard enjoyed wrestling, music, and family vacations, and he just enjoyed talking with others.

Richard made his eternal transition on March 18, 2023, Preceeding Richard D. Thomas in death are his parents J.C. and Mattie L. Thomas and siblings, Jeanette Thomas, Mary Thomas, Betty Tyson, and C.C. Thomas.

He leaves to carry his memory his loving family his wife, Eveleana Thomas; sons, Dwight (Denise) Thomas and Adrian (Rokeshia) Thomas, Michael (Terina) Thomas; one daughter, Nikita Thomas, 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Benjamin Thomas and Joe (Marie) Thomas; one brother-in-law, William Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
