Obituary For Gary Lewis Smith

The funeral services for the late Mr. Gary Lewis Smith of 2533 U.S. Hwy 82 West, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at his residence, will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Greater 2nd Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Elder Otis Robinson, Sr. will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden in Sylvester, Georgia. Services may be viewed Facebook Live from the "Shipps Funeral Home" Facebook page or by clicking the Video Stream link on this site's Home Page. At the request of the family there will be no public viewing of the remains.

Mr. Gary Lewis Smith was born on November 26, 1969 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Mr. And Mrs. John Lewis and Mattie Ellen Thomas Smith.

Gary was educated in the Worth County Public School System and graduated from Worth County High School in 1987. He furthered his education by attending Moultrie Technical College and receiving a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Gary gave his life to Christ and attended Faith and Prayer Missionary Church in Sylvester, Georgia, where he was baptized.

Gary was united in Holy Matrimony to Wanda Moore on November 10, 2022 in Albany, Georgia.

On March 21, 2023, at his home in Sylvester, Georgia, this soldier was called to come in from Labor to Reward. His parents and a son, Tracy Kendrick, have all preceded him in death.

Gary leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Wanda Moore Smith; his children, Jamilha M. Frazier, Brittany Jackson, Ja’ Len Smith, Barron Jackson, Devin McNeal, Jamilya Mayo, Jeremiah McGee, Shonteria Jackson, Qwontavious Jackson, Ja’Kari Moore, Titus Moore-Baker, Davrius Moore-Baker, Tony Moore, and with special love and affection to Qwenesha Baker, Ky’Myada Baker; fourteen grandchildren; his siblings, Clovis Gardner, Leon (Delma) Hope, Linda Hall, Leroy Hope, Charlotte Hope, Vontresia Hope, Reginald Keith (Kanane) Smith, Tony Smith, Stanley Hope, Denise Hope, Christopher Hope; his mother-in-law, Estoria Moore; other in-laws, Sylvia (Ricky) Hutchings, Christine Sampson, Cedric Moore, Linda Moore, Carolyn Moore, Robert Perkins, Johnnie Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
