Sister Nicey Lee Hudson Williams was born October 16, 1927 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Mr. Sinkie Hudson and Mrs. Lucille Jones Hudson. She was the third child born to this union and the eldest living.

Sister Williams dedicated her life to the Lord at a very young age. She was very active in her church. She sang in the church choir for many years. Sister Williams saw that there was a need for more ushers and decided to leave the choir and joined the usher board where she served faithfully for several years. She was also a trustee of the church and served on the stewardess board. Sister Williams was appointed a Deaconess by the South Florida AME Church Conference as well. She was very dutiful in serving wherever she was most needed.

She received her early childhood education in the Leon County School System in Tallahassee, Florida. After her family moved to Gifford, Florida, she then attended school in Indian River County and later received her high school diploma in the Adult Education Program. Sister Williams was joined in Holy Matrimony to John Oliver Williams, Sr. on August 19, 1949. To this union, five children were born: Juneva, Phillip, John Jr., Jacques, and Jakelia. She was employed by Indian River School District for many years and worked in Food Service and Custodial Care until her retirement. Sister Williams then became very active in community organizations. She was a member of the NAACP and membership chairman. She was also a member of the Widow’s Club and the Special K Aerobics Program. She was also an active member of the Progressive Civic League of Gifford, FL.

She loved her family dearly. Her home was always a place of genuine hospitality. She and her sisters were excellent cooks and bakers. They made some of the most delicious cakes, pies, cobblers, and breads and were always sharing their delightful mouthwatering culinary dishes with others.

Sister Nicey answered the Father’s call to transition back to Him on March 12, 2023 at Vero Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband: John Oliver Williams, Sr.; parents: Sinkie and Lucille Jones Hudson; son: John Oliver Williams, Jr.; brother: Clifford B. Hudson; sisters: Alonza Lee Hudson, Eva Mae Hudson, Beronzy(Baker)Wheeler, Bernice(Russ)Lewis. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy her sons: Phillip T. Williams of Vero Beach, FL and Jacques L. Williams of Lawrenceville, GA; daughters: Juneva Walters of Vero Beach, FL and Jakelia L. Williams of Atlanta, GA; sisters: Doris H. Wright of Jonesboro, GA, Emma L. Hudson of Nashville, TN; brothers: A. Ronald Hudson, Harry Hudson, Eddie Hudson all of Vero Beach, FL; sisters-in-law: Beulah Posey of Davenport, IA, Flora(Charles)Green of Miami, FL, and Elaine Hagans of Vero Beach, FL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Public viewing for Nicey Lee Hudson Williams will take place on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel in Vero Beach, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Mount Zion AME Church in Vero Beach, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery.
