Obituary For Arthur James Newberry, Jr.

Mr. Arthur James Newberry, Jr. of 437 Hodge King Drive, Ashburn, Georgia, departed this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at his residence. At the request of the family, the remains have been cremated.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia, with the Pastor, Reverend Dr. Marvin Brown, Officiating. Mr. Arthur James Newberry, Jr. was born April 11, 1955, in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sr. and Mae Bell Newberry.

At an early age, Arthur (affectionately called “Pee Man”), gave his life to Christ and joined New Providence Baptist Church.

Arthur attended Turner County High School in Ashburn, Georgia. He was employed with Golden Peanut in Ashburn, Georgia, Kelly Manufacturing Company, Tifton Machine Works, and Steel-Span, all located in Tifton, Georgia. where he spent long days, hours and weeks on the road for C.R. England and Con-Way XPO. He recently retired from CFI Freight Line of Joplin, Missouri. Arthur was also a Driver Trainer where he received a Tanker’s Endorsement as well as being awarded for being one of the Top Ten Drivers in 2016 and 2017.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Arthur transitioned his soul and went home to rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Johnnie Mae Newberry.

To cherish the beauty of his memories are his ten children, Alonzo Newberry of Brunswick, GA, Jermaine Newberry, Lorenzo Newberry, both of Los Angeles, CA, Adrian Newberry of Hinesville, GA, Sophia Newberry of Albany, GA, Adrian Coley of Arizona, Michael McKay, Christi (Alvin) Strickland, all of Tifton, GA, Christina McKay of Hahira, GA, Leann Harris of Columbus, GA, Jennifer Cross of Jonesboro, GA; 22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; six sisters, Janie Mae Jackson, Lula Bell (Samuel) Johnson, Debbie Ann (Freddie) Mack, all of Ashburn, GA, Dianne (Arthur) Tumbling of Tifton, GA, Vera Mobley of Cairo, GA, Sherry Martin of Albany, GA; two brothers, Roy Lee (Lula) Newberry of Lake City, FL, George Lewis Jr. of Ashburn, GA; one aunt, Willie Mae Walker of Warwick, GA.; a special friend, Ms. Janice Rainey of Ashburn, GA; a special devoted friend, Ms. Sarah Spann of Albany, GA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and sorrowing friends.
