Robert Verdell, Sr. was born to the late Nelson and Mary Lee Verdell. He passed away peacefully at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine on Wednesday, March 23, 2023. He was a graduate of Walter E. Harris High School. He worked at Georgia Pacific and was a manager for Joy Food Stores Inc. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Willie Mae Verdell. He leaves to mourn 5 children: Robert Verdell Jr. (Marietta) Palm Coast; Tranesha Hubert (Robert Ben) St. Augustine; Shriley Jackson (Brian) Hastings; Tykesa Brinson (Terrance) Ocala; Timothy Verdell, Sr. (Felicia) St. Augustine; brother, Horace Verdell (Lois) St. Augustine; brothers in law, Henry Simon (Shirley) Palm Coast; James Spivey (Kelly) Rochester, New York; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, classmates, and friends. The Verdell family will receive friends and the community 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, at the Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel.
