Ms. Linda Faye Timmons, “L.T.”, was born in Sylvester, Georgia on June 13, 1955 to the late Mrs. Bertha Mae Timmons Smith and the late Mr. Rufus McGhee. Linda’s grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Will and Lizzie Timmons, helped Bertha raise Linda to be strong, independent, and God-fearing. With such a solid upbringing, Linda accepted Christ in her life at an early age and she trusted in the Lord until the very end.

Linda was educated in the Worth County Public School System, where she achieved numerous awards and accolades because she was always determined to succeed. After graduating from Worth County High School in 1974, she continued her thirst for knowledge at Albany Junior College in Albany, Georgia, earning an Associate Degree in Nursing, and officially becoming a Registered Nurse.

Linda started her professional career as a R.N. at Worth County Hospital, taking care of patients with her sweet charm, soulful love, and heartwarming spirit. After dedicating herself to what felt like a lifetime to the citizens of Sylvester, Georgia with her magnificent healthcare skills, Linda decided to go to Albany, Georgia to finish her career at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

All work and no play would have made Linda a very dull girl and she was not having that. As a matter of fact, way before the desire to spend her nights on some hospital floor, Linda spent her nights on the dance floor, rocking and rolling to the beat. She loved dancing and having a good time. Many of her friends, classmates and colleagues considered L.T. the “life of the party”; a firecracker, because she really knew how to get things popping!

After retiring from the hospital, the Casino Lounge, and the Ebony Lounge, Linda began to focus on her salvation. She joined the Messiah House Outreach Ministries, where she served as Church Secretary and Director of the Usher Board. Linda was a “hold my mule” type of Christian. She always wanted the church services to be “Crunk for Jesus!” She was loud and proud to be a child of God.

Linda departed this life on Thursday evening, March 23, 2023, like a smooth criminal sneaking off into the heavenly sunset with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her biological grandmother, Leola Brown Timmons, her paternal grandparents, Roger and Ada B. McGhee, her favorite uncle, Samuel “Munch” McGhee, a very special friend who gave her the nickname “L.T.” Victor Evans, and also a little furry creature, her granddaughter’s puppy, Chocolate, who loved himself some L.T. Linda leaves to cherish her memories her loving son, Omar Kinyata Timmons; her grandchildren, Zalen K. Timmons, Takiyah K. Timmons; one surviving mother, Virginia McGhee of Washington, DC; seven sisters, Willie Lee Timmons, Marie Ransom, Yolanda Ransom, all of Sylvester, GA, Fannie Ragland of Hartford CT, Deborah Jones, Velisa (Ralph) Knatt, Teresa (Matt) Collins, all of Washington, DC; six brothers, Willie (Marilyn) Timmons, Randy Timmons, Johnny Ransom, Eric Ransom, Joseph Smith, all of Sylvester, GA, Gregory (Teresa) McGhee of Washington, DC; four aunts, Hazel (Howard) Green, Joanne (Willie) Williams, both of Bainbridge, GA, Mary McGhee, Angela McGhee, both of Sylvester, GA; one uncle, Rogers McGhee, Jr. of Sylvester, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and sorrowing friends.
