Herman Lee Woods was born on May 7, 1954 in Gadsden, AL to Carrie and Howard Lee Woods. He departed this life on March 28, 2023.
Herman was a graduate of Ashville High School and later studied wood-working and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) on Gadsden State Community College Campus.. He served four years in the United States Air Force, and retired from the Anniston Army Depot after 37 years of exemplary work ethic.
Herman led with a servant’s heart and held many positions as a member of Overcoming Church including Superintendent of Sunday School, Financial Secretary of the Northern Alabama Diocese, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee of Overcoming Church, Member of the Deacon Board, and Personal Aide to Bishop Charles Williams.
Herman is preceded in death by his father, Howard Lee Woods and sister Jeanice Mostella.
Herman leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 42 years Jacqueline Woods. Mother: Carrie Woods of Pell City, AL. Daughters: Diandra (Fred) McMillian of Sedalia, MO, and Hannah Woods of Charlotte, NC. Brother: Howard (Deloris) Woods of Pell City, AL, Sister: Ruthie Pryor of Pell City, AL. Nieces: Lacoria (Orlandus) Lindsey of Gadsden, AL, Latwania Williams, Roshanna Mostella, Crystal Mostella, and Kirby Mostella all of Ashville, AL, Brooklin (Jeremy) Graves of Gadsden, AL. Nephews: Joshua Jones of Gadsden, AL, Kinte (Shatika) Williams of Ashville, AL, Michael Pryor of Pell City, AL, Desmond Williams and Michael Puckett both of Dallas, TX, Demetricus Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Julian (Trinity) Croft of Kileen, TX and Nicholas (Alicia) Johnson of Huntsville, AL Siblings-in-law: Jerome Croft of Gadsden, AL, Vanessa Croft of Atlanta, GA, Yteria and Nikki Croft both of Nashville. A host of special aunts and uncles. Special Friends: John David Reaves, Shawn Williams, Thomas & Peggy Williams, and Charles Byers.
Public Viewing will be Friday, March 31, 2023 from 12:00 Noon - 5:00 P.M.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Overcoming Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Eulogist: Bishop Terry Jones Interment: Ashville Cemetery.
