Doris Brame Bates, 93, of Richmond, passed away peacefully, March 29, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 71 years, Herman William Bates, Sr. Surviving are her son, Herman William Bates, Jr.: daughter, Jewel Bates Mitchell; two grandchildren, Maurice Mitchell and Valerie Mitchell Spain (Keith); five great grandchildren, Marcus Mitchell, Ciara Stephenson, Adrienne Mitchell, Destiny Mitchell and Ajeya Dixon; three great great grandchildren, Kason Mitchell, Skylar Edwards and Soryn Barth; nephew, Percy Mitchell (Jill); nieces, Angela Brame and April Brame Hawkes (Clarence); cousins, Heywood Thompson (Earlyne), Renee Thompson, Jimmy Cary and Reginald Romaine; also her devoted, faithful and loving church family. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Tuesday, April 11 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends in Scott's Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Ave. Wednesday, April 12 at 11 a.m. Entombment will be held at Forest Lawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
